Notre Dame football has lost Deuce Knight to Auburn, sparking questions over quarterback talent in the current line-up .

The 6"4 player confirmed on Wednesday night that he will enrol at Auburn instead of sticking with the Fighting Irish . Knight is rated the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2025 by ESPN.

Meanwhile, 247Sports Composite ranking considers the sportsman the fifth-best quarterback and the 29th-best prospect overall .

Knight attended four Auburn home games this season before turning to the Tigers , according to On3.com. Auburn's recruiting class is currently rated No.4 in the country, reports On3, making Dwight's move a convenient one. Knight's relocation leaves Notre Dame without a quarterback commitment in its 2025 recruiting class .

Speaking about Danny Hugh Freeze Jr., head coach at Auburn University, Knight told Rivals: "It’s Coach Freeze,” Knight told Rivals. " He’s a straight-up, honest guy. He’s from Mississippi. He was honest with me from the jump .

"I was his top target from the jump. When I committed to Notre Dame, things fell off... We talked it out. He came back around and he’s always been a great guy."

Meanwhile, Notre Dame's Marcus Freeman is just one game away from tying a massive milestone and becoming the second coach in the team’s history to have 10 wins over ranked opponents in his first three years in the job.

The 38-year-old former line-backer took the head coaching position in 2021.
