Taylor Swift swooped in to cheer up Travis Kelce after his shaky start to the new NFL season, flying into Kansas City for a surprise get-together - which included a cosy date at a Japanese diner.

The Chiefs tight end hasn't been on top form in his first three games of the season , managing only eight receptions for 69 yards and no touchdowns.

Despite this, the 34-year-old sports star seems to be keeping cool about his performance issues , with his superstar girlfriend by his side to distract him from his on-field woes.

This scoop comes from the Daily Mail, who reported that the lovebirds spent a few days together in Missouri following the Chiefs' game in Atlanta. Kelce's contribution against the Falcons was subdued, making four catches for 30 yards as his team clinched a 22-17 victory away from home.

Afterwards, it's been said that Swift jetted into Kansas City, spending quality time with Kelce at his luxurious $6 million pad. The duo also had dinner at the posh Noka restaurant, where they reportedly enjoyed some privacy, "shutting down" the venue for their intimate evening, according to the "Deux Moi" podcast.

Swift reportedly continued her journey to Nashville, Tennessee after their fleeting meetup and then headed off to St. Louis, Missouri for a family wedding.

Meanwhile, Kelce seems unbothered by the chatter about his recent play, remaining philosophical about his game.

In conversation with his brother Jason Kelce on their podcast "New Heights", Travis opened up: "I've had a lot of catches in this league, man. I'm not worried about the catches and the yards, and all of that. I have the most fun when I get the ball thrown my way, I mean, who doesn't?"

The tight end reflected on his performance: "It has everything to do with execution and just making sure we're doing everything we can to win these football games, that's always going to be the goal. I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter and the crucial third down, just trying to do too much before putting the ball away."

Continuing, he said, "That's probably the biggest thing for me is making the play in big-time moments like that. I think with how defenses are playing us right now, I'm not really getting a lot of opportunities to make plays down the field, but [I'm] not using that as an excuse."

Kelce added some forward-looking thoughts: "'Moving forward, still trying to make sure I can help the team out in that regard knowing I've been that weapon for us in the past... everyone's just tweaking their game in the right direction."
