Amanda Balionis is using her platform to raise money to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The CBS Sports commentator has been known for her charitable efforts. She recently attended a charity golf tournament, raising money for Oakland schools.

She’s also the president and founder of Puppies & Golf, a nonprofit that works to help dogs in need. She recently shared in an Instagram post that her team has been working to help shelters and communities who have been affected by the catastrophic weather event.

Hurricane Helene has devastated several areas of the Southeast, including towns in Florida to places like Asheville, North Carolina. The category four hurricane has a death toll of 200 so far, and that number is expected to rise.

Balionis took to social media to her followers to donate to the cause.

“We are ready to get these fundraising efforts going. You guys have never let us down before,” she said in the video.

The nonprofit is aiming to raise $10,000, and has found donors to agree to match that, for a total of $20,000. The funds will go to five shelters across three areas of the country: Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia.

“We’ve had shelters that have completely been demolished. We’ve had shelters that have been flooded by sewage. We’ve had shelters that have lost every single one of dry items,” she said.

Balionis posted the call to action Thursday, and it’s already received over $20,000 donations. She also created an Amazon Wishlist, so people can buy supplies that the shelters need.
