Netflix has decided to cancel That 90s Show, the reboot of the hit sitcom That 70s Show.

The new series starred several That 70s Show alum, including Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp as Red and Kitty Forman. Smith confirmed the cancellation on his Instagram Thursday.

That 70s Show ran for eight seasons after it premiered in 1998. Some of its stars have gone on to become controversial. Danny Masterson, who played Hyde, was convicted of rape and sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2023. Ashton Kutcher has recently been criticized for his close friendship with disgraced rapper Diddy , though he has never been accused of anything himself.

That 90s Show followed the teenage daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, the main characters of the original series. It features cameos of the original cast, including Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, Topher Grace, Mila Kunis and Kutcher.

The young cast includes Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi and Sam Morelos. That 90s Show has two seasons: the first with 10 episodes and the second with 16.

Kurtwood Smith said in his Instagram post: “I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news… Netflix will not be renewing. I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show.

“You have come up to me in random parts of the world when I’m traveling and reached out to me through social media and just been so wonderful. I’ve loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all.”

Deadline reported the second season, which was released in two parts, didn’t perform as well as some expected. The first part debuted on June 27, only receiving 1.8 million views in its first week.

The streaming platform then moved up the release of the second part from Oct. 24 to Aug. 22. It didn’t even chart in Netflix’s Top 10, meaning it had less than 1.9 million views for its first week.
