Florida man attacks woman with power drill as she pumps gas at station before stealing keys in brazen theft

A man allegedly struck a woman with a drill and stole her car keys while she was pumping gas at a gas station in Miami, Florida .

Alexander Gonzalez is behind bars after he reportedly used the power tool to hit the woman and pinch her car keys in northwest Miami-Dade on Monday, September 30.

The incident took place at the gas station at Northwest 186th Street and Northwest 67th Avenue shortly after 10am. The 47-year-old walked up to the victim while she was pumping gas , according to NBC Miami and police.

Gonzalez then " proceeded to forcefully take the vehicle keys from her hand while striking her with a drill." Another individual stepped in to try and stop Gonzalez but he then hit them on the head with the drill.

The second victim suffered a laceration as a result . Gonzalez allegedly then fled the scene with the first victim's property in tow.

He never got far, however, and was located by police at Northwest 191st Street and Northwest 67th Court. He was allegedly in possession of the drill and the victim's keys .

He was arrested and provided a confession on camera, police said. Gonzalez has since been charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.
