Shower habits vary widely, with some people needing a rinse before work and others not feeling ready for bed without being squeaky clean. But how often should you be showering?

There's even some who believe they need to shower twice daily, but experts have weighed in on the ideal frequency .

Dermatologists suggest limiting showers to two or three times a week . Adrianna Barrionuevo Brach, speaking on the talkshow Today, clarified: "The consensus is two to three times per week, but it does depend on the person. It depends on your lifestyle, your skin type, your age, your activity level, as well."

Brach also highlighted that over-showering could lead to dry skin or eczema, sparking online debates. Instagram user Jojorob812 commented: "That's why so many people stink", while Tiffanysisco added: "How about every day. Can I get an Amen? Unless you're camping or sick or have kids lol."

Harvard Health Publishing has indicated that excessive cleanliness might strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness. They assert: "This is not a public health menace."

They note that daily showers don't necessarily equate to better health and can damage the skin, cause various health issues, waste water, and the ingredients in personal care products may trigger allergies and are costly.

I’m kind of old, retired, and live and sleep alone, so twice a week is good for me.
