Fans 'disturbing' 'identity' theory behind Diddy's infamous 'white parties'

Before his recent scandal, Sean 'P Diddy' Combs was famed for hosting some of Hollywood’s most elaborate parties, where there was a very specific dress code.

Diddy’s legendary ‘white parties’ were first held exclusively in the Hamptons before starting to move to other luxurious locations around the world. The dress code was strictly enforced, and as the name suggests guests were expected to wear white. Party décor also fit the white theme.

Diddy himself admitted to Oprah during a 2006 interview , that the color palette was intended to “strip away everyone’s image and put us all in the same color and on the same level.”

While the sentiment seemed well intentioned at the time, the new allegations against Diddy have shed new light on his words. Fans who dove deep into the archives of Diddy’s interviews found this comment disturbing in light of recent news. They suggested that the almost identical outfits may have been used to prevent victims from identifying individuals.

“If everyone’s dressed the same, it would be much harder to single out or identify an attacker,” one user pointed out. “Especially if you’ve been drugged.” Another agreed, "Yep... Harder to tell people apart when they all look the same."

Another fan suggested the ‘white’ parties might have a double meaning, alluding to the use of cocaine, which many witnesses have come forward and said they were given non-consensually.

White parties are historically used to mark the end of summer, and take place across labor day weekend. However, Diddy’s parties were generally held on the fourth of July which makes it unlikely that this was his inspiration. One TikTok user still seemed convinced that the white ‘uniform’ had no disturbing backstory. @Jazminalexis wrote: “Rich people have white parties all the time.”

Celebrities from all industries and walks of life somehow came together at the parties which Diddy called ‘freak offs.’ Guests were mainly musicians but also included actors, socialites, models, and even former president, Donald Trump . The world’s most powerful people have found themselves involved in a media frenzy as Diddy faces hundreds of sexual assault allegations.
