Popular ‘90s cartoon is being made into a live action movie

A new report from Paramount has revealed that a beloved ‘90s cartoon is getting a revival, this time as a live action movie.

Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons of all time, running from 1991 to 2004. Through those years, millions of children around the world tuned in to the show, catapulting it to legendary status. Now, a whole new generation of children will get to enjoy the endeavors of Tommy Pickles and the gang.

This week, Deadline announced that Paramount wanted the Rugrats reboot to be a live action and CGI hybrid, a technique used in The Lego Movie. They hope that by mingling the classic format of the Rugrats with a fresh take, allowing both the old and new audiences to enjoy it.

Jason Moore, the director of Pitch Perfect is reportedly on board and working with the network to make something special. There have been plenty of rumors of a Rugrats reprisal in years gone by, and even an announcement from Paramount themselves back in 2018, that they were getting to work on the project, aiming for a 2021 release.

There is currently no information about the plot of the movie, or if any of the original voice actors will be involved. The original series centered around a group of toddlers - Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil - and their day-to-day lives, usually involving life experiences that become much greater adventures.
