Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Christmas plans in jeopardy over 'worrying' travel concerns

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been extended an invite to join Charles Spencer for the festive season at Althorp, yet it seems Meghan's hesitance to make the trip to the UK is throwing a spanner in the works for their Christmas arrangements .

An insider claims that Prince Harry, 40, is eager to celebrate the yuletide period in the UK with his spouse and offspring, but the Duchess, 43, harbors apprehensions about the family's safety .

The source disclosed that the problem has escalated to such an extent that it might mark a significant juncture in the duo's six-year union. "Harry is keen for the Sussexes to spend time in the UK this Christmas with family," the informant revealed.

"However, there are still concerns lingering over their security."

It's well-known that Meghan has consistently been reluctant to journey to the United Kingdom and perceives it as quite daunting amidst everything that's transpired.

If Meghan Markle decides to show up, which currently seems quite doubtful, it would mark her first proper return to the UK since the late Queen's funeral in 2022. A source mentioned that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't been invited to the Royal Family's traditional Sandringham holiday festivities - and they probably wouldn't go even if asked, reports the Express .

Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan were noticeably missing from the Royal Family's Christmas event at Sandringham. The pair was also left out of the Firm's "summer summit" at Balmoral the previous month.

Nevertheless, despite being overlooked by Harry's relatives, the family of his late mother, Princess Diana, the Spencers, have welcomed him into their fold.

Prince Harry paid a visit to Althorp House, the ancestral home of the Spencer family and the final resting place of his late mother, during his trip to Britain in August. The Duke lodged with his uncle Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer, at his estate following his attendance at the memorial service for Diana's brother-in-law, Lord Robert Fellowes.

This news emerges as Harry has extended his current solo trip abroad without Meghan Markle. A well-informed source reveals that the Duke of Sussex was scheduled to return to California this weekend to reunite with his wife Meghan and their two children, but has decided to extend his solo trip by a few more days.

The source further suggests that the Duke will likely travel to Johannesburg and Cape Town for some "private time" with family and friends. Another secret visit, which has curiously been omitted from his official diary, is also on the cards.

"It's all very cloak and dagger but Harry has extended his trip abroad by another few days," the source disclosed. "He'll likely head to Johannesburg and then to visit family and friends. The Spencers have a residence there [in Cape Town] and he has numerous friends from that part of the world. There's also another journey planned which has been erased from his diary and he's eager to keep it very private."

Earlier this week, friends of the Sussexes raised concerns about their relationship due to the amount of time the couple were spending apart.

Prince Harry has been carrying out several weeks of solo engagements in the United States, United Kingdom and Africa.

The Duke caught up with his old mate Prince Seeiso of Lesotho recently, delivering an impassioned speech by a bonfire about the achievements of his Sentebale charity. Before heading to South Africa, the Duke made a solo jaunt to London for this year's WellChild awards.

His fleeting stay in the UK did not include meetings with either his father, King Charles, or his brother, Prince William. The Duke's trip to the UK was hot on the heels of another lone venture to New York City a fortnight earlier.

In the Big Apple, Prince Harry attended several events amid the UN General Assembly High-Level Week and Climate Week.

He addressed a crowd at a panel for The Diana Award, a charity established in memory of the late Princess Diana, who passed away at 36 in 1997. At another gig, this time at the Clinton Global Initiative, Harry passionately spoke about the dangers of online harm and urged for measures to combat the "pervasive threat" that the digital realm presents to youngsters.

While Harry has been globe-trotting, Meghan reportedly stayed back in Montecito, California, looking after their two sprogs, Prince Archie, aged 5, and Princess Lilibet, aged 3. Nonetheless, the Duchess made waves on Saturday when she rocked up to the LA Children's Hospital gala in a dazzling red Carolina Herrera frock.

With Harry's string of solo trips and the pair's growing separation, pals are worried that the duo, hitched for six years, might be growing apart.
