Liam Neeson's iconic reboot hit with delayed release amid a string of disappointing issues

Liam Neeson's Naked Gun reboot has been a hit with a release date delay . The remake of the iconic comedy, which does still not have an official movie title, has been moved from its original release date of July 18, 2025.

The film has been pushed back by two weeks and is now set to light up the big screen on August 1, 2025, according to Screen Rant. The work, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, was announced in February this year.

It comes amid a string of timing issues for The Naked Gun, which has faced development setbacks since it was first announced in 2013 . While no official reason has been given for the recent delay, the flick joints Dakota Fanning horror movie Vicious which was moved from August 8 to February 28 as part of the same release date shuffle.

So far, there is no speculation that the move is due to production problems.

The reboot, directed by Akiva Schaffer, will go up against some tough competition with its new release date . The Bad Guys 2, Sony’s Beneath the Storm, and an untitled Warner Bros event films are all set to land on the same day.

Neeson will take on the role as Lieutenant Frank Drebin in the hotly anticipated remake. The 72-year-old will play clumsy police detective Lieutenant Frank Drebin, originally played by Leslie Nielsen.

The Naked Gun films, which started as the TV show Police Squad!, were slapstick comedy gold and ran over six years.

Meanwhile, Liam Neeson has received a heartfelt gift from Scottish comedian Janey Godley who is sadly undergoing end-of-life care for terminal cancer .

The 63-year-old gifted her hand-knitted scarf to the Taken star. The delivery comes not long after the cherished comic revealed her terminal cancer diagnosis which now sees her receiving palliative care.

Godley hit the headlines in 2018 when she held a sign reading "Trump is a runt" on the beach outside Trump Turnberry Luxury Collection Resort in Turnberry, Scotland during the ex-president's UK visit on July 14.
