Notre Dame Football has been dealt yet another injury blow with their backup quarter-back out of action for the foreseeable. CJ Carr suffered a hand injury during practice recently, making him out of bounds for now.

Head coach Marcus Freeman confirmed the disappointing news which comes amid a string a string of injuries for the Fighting Irish, particularly on the offensive line.

The team has had to contend with with niggles and setbacks from players including tight end Cooper Flanagan, defensive end Josh Burnham, who sprained his left ankle , and defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio.

"He was injured in practice a couple weeks ago and has some elbow soreness so we're really trying to focus on some other areas of improvement for him as he goes through rehab," Freeman said, according to Sports Illustrated .

Freeman did not confirm when Carr, Notre Dame's fourth-string quarterback, would fully return to the squad.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame football has lost Deuce Knight to Auburn, sparking questions over quarterback talent in the current line-up . The 6"4 player confirmed on Wednesday night that he will enrol at Auburn instead of sticking with the Fighting Irish . Knight is rated the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2025 by ESPN.
