Joe Rogan has made it clear he's a fan of Peaky Blinders , especially praising Cillian Murphy's performance as the brooding gangster Thomas Shelby.

The hit series, created by Steve Knight, finished its six-season run in 2022 and is now set to continue its story on the silver screen , with Murphy returning to his starring role joined by some familiar faces and a fresh cast.

The show counts Hollywood icon Julia Roberts and rap superstar Snoop Dogg among its celebrity admirers. And it seems Rogan, the man behind The Joe Rogan Experience, is also enthralled with the historical drama.

He shared his appreciation during the latest JRE Companion Show, stating: "Peaky Blinders is great, dude," and admitted being midway through the fourth season: "I'm on season 4 now. It's good dude, it's good. Cillian Murphy , that guy is a beast."

The US audience might've considered Murphy somewhat unknown until his award-winning role as the lead in Oppenheimer, which bagged him an Oscar as Best Actor - a first for an actor from Ireland. Rogan couldn't help but express his admiration for Murphy's acting abilities, saying: "He's great in Oppenheimer," and highlighting his versatility: "The guy's got such range... A guy who can play a gangster and a nuclear scientist. That's range."

Rogan's accolades for Peaky Blinders aren't new; he previously told Jack Carr in another episode: "I just started watching Peaky Blinders. It's great!"

"A lot of friends have been telling me, 'You got to watch Peaky Blinders,' and Jamie keeps telling me I got to watch The Wire, and that's next. The Wire's next, but I got to get through Peaky Blinders. Peaky Blinders is great."

It appears Rogan discovered Murphy through a zombie film he starred in over two decades ago. 28 Days Later, a British post-apocalyptic horror flick directed by Danny Boyle, showcased Murphy as Jim.

Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed in a recent interview with Deadline that the Cork native's character would make a comeback, albeit in a "surprising" manner. "You ever see '28 Days Later', the zombie movie? " Rogan had previously queried.

"Best zombie movie ever... That first one is amazing."

In other news, the cast for a new Netflix series about the notorious Guinness family has been unveiled. Steve Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, is leading House of Guinness, a significant new Netflix drama centred on one of Ireland's most prominent dynasties.

The drama will delve into the epic tale of the Guinness family, one of Europe's most renowned and long-lasting dynasties, set against the backdrop of 19th-century Dublin and New York, focusing on the aftermath of Benjamin Guinness' death.
