P Diddy gets riled up about parenting comments in resurfaced interview

An interview from 2010 with Sean "P Diddy" Combs discussing his views on parenting has sparked a revived debate over his tendency to shower his kids with opulent gifts .

The throwback clip showed Combs defending his decision to gift his son Justin, who is now in his thirties, a luxury $360,000 car for his sweet sixteenth.

The celebrity kid also received a $10,000 cash bonus and an extravagant bash, all of which were the talk of the MTV show My Super Sweet 16.

"I think it's appropriate to give my kids whatever I want to give my kids," Combs argued during a sit-down with Nightline's Martin Bashir. In more recent news, Combs - last month cuffed in New York on disturbing charges of sex trafficking and racketeering - was reportedly removed from suicide watch while he anticipates his courtroom showdown.

His stance firm, Combs stated: "I feel the way I raise my children, I don't have to explain to you or anyone else, 'cause nobody knows the way I raise my children."

Visibly chafed by the scrutiny, Combs stood his ground, claiming that only he understood whether his lad was equipped to deal with such lavishness, as he put it: "Nobody knows the lessons that I've taught my children to understand if they are mentally ready for that."

Admitting fatherhood may be where he's "least successful," Combs nonetheless insisted that each of his offspring is amply provided for.

Following in the footsteps of the costly celebrations documented on MTV's My Super Sweet 16, Combs' actions are not isolated cases.

The influential music executive expressed vexation over the critique of his parental discretion. The resurfaced chat has been thrust back into the limelight alongside Combs' current legal woes.

Former Vibe journalist and chief editor Danyel Smith has levelled serious accusations against him amid a wave of sexual assault claims. During her time at the magazine, Smith alleged she was threatened by him to the extent she feared for her life based on their interactions.

She detailed her initial significant encounter with Diddy at a 1997 cover photoshoot for the New York Times magazine, characterising him as "begrudgingly compliant" in her account.

Smith describes how Combs became increasingly "controlling" over time, even insisting on receiving pre-publication copies of the magazine, which went against the rules of Vibe and other outlets alike. Still, Diddy and his legal team assert his innocence and repudiate all allegations.

How he raises his kids giving them expensive gifts such as a $360,000.00 car is his business, not coming out of my pocket. Why would anyone be concerned over what someone spends on their own kids with their own money. If nothing is illegal, then people need to stay out of expenses one chooses to purchase for their loved one.
