Liam Neeson details how 'rude' iconic director brutally rejected him

Liam Neeson has detailed how a "rude" iconic director brutally rejected him . The Taken star went undercover on the internet to respond to real comments from X and Reddit users on an episode of "Actually Me" for GQ in 2019.

The 72-year-old is a major Hollywood star and is thought to be well-regarded by actors and directors alike in the acting world - but it seems the feeling is not always reciprocated.

Reading out an excerpt from the internet which claims Neeson's "most embarrassing moment in acting" was when "relatively early in his career, he auditioned for the role of Fezzik, the giant in The Princess Bride," Neeson read on: "Director Rob Reiner had a look of disgust on his face when he realized that Neeson was "only" six feet four.

Neeson then chimed in with his own take on the claim, telling GQ: "Thankfully [Andre got the role] ... because, yeah, I remember I met Rob Reiner, I found him to be incredibly rude. He didn't even say hello when I [Liam] walked into the room . He just turned to his casting assistant and went, 'I asked for a giant! What height are you?'

"I said, 'six feet four'. He said, 'that's not a giant! Thank you!"

Rob Reiner has acting credits in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). He has earned acclaim directing Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... and Misery (1990).

The Schindler's List star knows all too well about the importance of being kind. Last week, Neeson received a heartfelt gift from Scottish comedian Janey Godley who is sadly undergoing end-of-life care for terminal cancer .

The 63-year-old hand-knitted a scarf for Neeson which he graciously accepted and posted pictures of himself wearing from his home in New York.The delivery comes not long after the cherished comic revealed her terminal cancer diagnosis which now sees her receiving palliative care.
