NFL legend gets giddy while talking about the Lions on Sunday night

NFL legend Tom Brady has confessed that he'd "love to be the quarterback of this offense" while lauding the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Brady was in the FOX Sports booth on Sunday for the weekend's standout clash between the Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. However, Detroit didn't stick to the script as fans were anticipating a tight game.

The Lions handed the Cowboys their most significant home defeat since 1988, triumphing 47-9 at ATandT Stadium.

This defeat marks the largest loss Dallas has suffered in any stadium since 2010, leaving them with a 3-3 record for the season. The Lions improved to 4-1, with their only defeat of the year coming in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff had an impressive performance, going 18-for-25 with 315 yards and three touchdowns. In contrast, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott struggled, throwing no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Prescott also went 17-for-33 and 178 yards, marking a tough day for the NFL's highest-paid player. Under head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions have emerged as a formidable force. The team is aiming to go one step further after reaching the NFC Championship game last season.

The Lions ended a 30-year wait for a playoff win and fell just one victory short of meeting the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas at Super Bowl LVIII.

For the Cowboys, a return to the Super Bowl remains the goal. America's Team hasn't won a championship since 1995.

Based on their recent performances at home, Dallas will need to significantly improve to stand a chance of making it all the way.

According to ESPN Research, the Cowboys have given up a whopping 167 points in their last four home fixtures, both regular season and playoff matches combined, marking it as the third-highest in NFL history over such a span at home.

The Cowboys boast an arsenal of offensive talent and CeeDee Lamb is touted as one of the premier wide receivers in the league. Yet, Brady points out that their struggling ground game is a significant obstacle this season.

He detailed, "The number one issue is their ability to run the football," adding his take on tactics: "I said earlier in the show, maybe the best way to do it is throw the ball early and then open the run game up because you've done a good job spreading the field and now they're going to play pass defense. I think they're trying to start these games trying to be balanced."

But when detailing the problems he sees, Brady highlights, "But the problem is when they're balanced they're not producing the run game, a quarter or a half into the game, they're down 14 (or) they're down 17 - and now they are one dimensional. And the other team has made them one-dimensional. I would like to see them start the game a little more pass-happy, a little more pass-orientated, try to gain a lead."

Brady didn't stop there: "They've got a lot of things they need to fix offensively from what I've seen. Offensively, running the ball and getting other guys involved other than CeeDee Lamb that can make some plays."

The Cowboys decided to franchise-tag running back Tony Pollard last season, only to release him and promote Rico Dowdle to the starting position. Pollard then signed a three-year contract with the Tennessee Titans and has racked up 339 yards and three touchdowns this season.

In a surprising move, Dallas brought back former running back and veteran Ezekiel Elliott as a backup, after initially releasing him after the 2022 season. Elliott had a brief stint with the New England Patriots before signing a one-year deal to return to the Cowboys.
