A workman in Northern Kentucky was met with a horrifying sight as he discovered the dismembered body of a woman and cooked human remains, leading to the arrest of 32-year-old Torilena May Fields.

The grim discovery was made at a home when the worker, called out for a job, stumbled upon the scene. Kentucky State Police announced on Thursday that Fields had been detained in connection with the shocking incident.

Covered in blood and initially refusing to leave the house, Fields was caught after a tense standoff with the police, which ended around 11.00pm following the use of tear gas and a police robot. The call to the authorities was made at about 12:30 pm on Wednesday, alerting them to a dead woman at a residence on Brierly Ridge in Robertson County.

The 911 caller, a man hired for work by the homeowner, told the police that he had seen both the victim and Fields at the property the day before.

KSP troopers cited that "On [Oct. 8], [the witness] stated Torilena was casting spells on them and was being confrontational."

When he returned the next day and got no answer at the door, he searched the grounds for the owner and found the gruesome remains, reports the Express US .

He noticed drag marks on the grass, followed them, and found a dismembered body hidden behind the house, with the arms, legs, and head removed from the torso, as stated in the KSP citation.

Troopers found "multiple body parts and organs" near the corpse, hidden inside a folded mattress, according to the report. Inside the home, what appeared to be cooked human remains were found in a pot in the oven, the report said.

"The pot was still warm to the touch," it noted. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Fields is being held at the Bourbon County Detention Center on several counts including obstruction of governmental operations, evidence tampering, and abuse of a corpse. KSP has suggested that further charges could follow after a more detailed investigation.

Her court date is scheduled for October 14.
