Coca-Cola issue recall over product with zero sugar after drink is found to contain full sugar

Coca-Cola has recalled thousands of cases of one of its popular drinks across three states due to mislabeling .

The company recalled 13,152 cases of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade after it was found to contain a full amount of sugar . The discovery was made after an internal investigation from Coca-Cola.

The products are 12-ounce cans of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade that were shipped to Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. They have a UPC code of 0 25000 12115 9, along with one of these two codes: FEB1725CNA and FEB1725CNB.

Newsweek reported the cans are sold in fridge packs. The cans themselves are not mislabeled, but they are in the incorrect packaging.

The US Food and Drug Administration initiated the recall on Sept. 10. It’s a Class II recall, meaning "a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

A Coca-Cola spokesperson said: “In September, Coca-Cola Consolidated voluntarily recalled a limited quantity of Minute Maid Lemonade 12-ounce cans in parts of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

“No impacted product remains in the market, and all recall activities in those markets are complete.”

The product can cause harm to individuals watching their sugar intake for health reasons. It’s unclear if there’s been any injuries caused by the recalled product.
