Grout can turn into a cleaning nightmare when it picks up stains unless you have the right equipment and cleaning know-how. It soaks up all manner of filth because of its porous nature. Grease, muck, and spillages get pulled in deep, making them stubborn to clear out.

Keep your grout tidy regularly, and you'll extend its life and fend off any health risks from mold growth . Some believe that bleach or white vinegar is ideal for cleaning grout.

Still, they're not brilliant choices and they can break down the material, inviting more splotches later on. However, don't fret. Sophie Franklin, a cleaning expert from Maid2Match, has revealed a "straightforward" way to simply clean your grout.

According to Sophie: "The easiest way to clean grout without scrubbing involves hydrogen peroxide and baking soda."

If you mix abrasive baking soda with the whitening wonders of hydrogen peroxide, you will form a paste that will spruce up and brighten your grout. Add a dash of dish soap as well, given its cleaning agents are superb at breaking down grease, and residuals, which makes cleaning grout easier, reports the Express .

Grab an empty jar, add in baking soda for every dollop of hydrogen peroxide, combine until it's pasty, then add a spoonful of dish soap into the mix.

Apply the mixture to the grout and let it sit for about five to 10 minutes. If your grout hasn't been cleaned in a while, you might want to leave it on a bit longer to tackle any build-up.

Once time's up, remove the mixture with a clean cloth and rinse the area with lukewarm water. Let the grout air-dry completely.

This homemade natural cleaner can rejuvenate your grout, but remember that hydrogen peroxide can break down over time and may create pressure if it's exposed to light or heat.

Sophie warned: "Do not store excess cleaner in a sealed container. The build-up of carbon dioxide may cause the container to break, while the gas could be toxic."

Dispose of any leftover solution or keep it in a cool, dark place with plenty of air circulation.
