There were several Irish names in the top 500 of the US Social Security Administration’s list of top baby names in 2023 . Liam was the top name among boys, while one of the popular girls' names was Kennedy.

Some names sound American, but they actually originated in Ireland. One example is Caitlin , which is the Gaelic form of Catherine.

One name that has become more popular in the US is Maeve. The name of Irish origin means “she who rules” or “intoxicating.”

According to TheBumb, the name appears in Irish mythology, as the Queen of Connacht and the Goddess of Love is named Maeve.

In 2018, the name was the 334th most popular name in the US. As of 2022, however, it had risen to 104th.
