Window cleaning can be a right pain, but with the correct advice and cleaning items, it can be easy

Laura Mountford, known as @lauracleanaholic on social media, says windows get muckier and more clouded in autumn due to increased moisture in the air . She explained: "Windows become foggy due to condensation, laundry drying, humidity and the change in temperature.

"It is therefore really important to ensure that you have good ventilation and air circulation during the winter months to avoid a build-up of mould and mildew in your home."

But getting your windows to shine without any streaks is easy, and all you need is a bit of washing up liquid, reports the Express .

Laura shared: "The quickest hack for cleaning your windows is to use a mop and hot soapy water. Clean the windows and frames then use a window [vacuum] to remove all the soapy water residue."

Washing up liquid is superb at cutting through grime, oil, and grease, meaning it'll make short work of most glass stains and is a breeze to wipe off. Just a small dab of washing-up liquid mixed with water creates a slick soapy solution that lifts dirt and leaves no streaks.

However, you can swap out washing-up liquid for white vinegar, given it evaporates fast, so it won't leave any gunk on your windows either.

Laura has shared a handy trick for gleaming glass: "Using this method is quick, easy and cost-effective. It is also really satisfying cleaning your windows this way. You will be able to clean one window in less than five minutes."

Here's how to spruce up your windows in a flash:

First things first brush off any cobwebs and dust from the windows and frames. Hot water with a drop of fairy liquid in a bucket is next. A mop dunked in this mixture makes a short work of dirty glass.

If you've got a window vacuum, it's perfect for zapping away the soapy residue. Otherwise, buff up the pane with a microfibre cloth for sparkle galore.

For that extra gleam, Laura's big on using a top-notch microfibre cloth: "The key to leaving windows with a streak-free shine is using a high-quality microfibre cloth to give them a final polish after cleaning."

She swears by Spontex Window and Glass cloths, an extra-large, sumptuous pick for a mirror-like finish: "I have tried and tested many over the years but the Spontex Window and Glass cloth is my favourite because it is an XL size, really thick and fantastic quality it honestly leaves your windows and glass shining."

After buffing to a sheen, Laura grabs some Flash Spray Wipe Done to bring out that dazzle and pairs it with a Spontex cloth to dodge any streaks.

With her approach, you'll breeze through window washing, making it a painless task.

As daylight dwindles in autumn, Laura points out: "Using this method will leave your windows sparkling and allow as much light as possible into your home during the darker autumn months."
