Paul Mescal responds to 'categorically untrue' dating rumors that 'upset' his mom

Paul Mescal has set the record straight on those TikTok one-night stand rumors .

The All of Us Strangers star revealed in his cover story for GQ that the stories of him running out on his one-night stands are "categorically untrue" and disappointed his mother.

Over the holidays, social media videos surfaced theorizing Mescal would take his date for a stroll in the park after a night together and then take off running in the opposite direction.

Mescal told GQ that he and his siblings were "laughing, laughing, laughing" watching internet gossip videos about his dating habits. However, Mescal's mom, Dearbhla Mescal, got upset over the allegations in defense of her son. Mescal shared his mom asked: "Isn't it devastating?"

"Then I was like, Oh, if you’re a mother, her impulse is to come out and be like, ‘He wouldn't do this,' " Mescal said. The Irish actor said if the rumor was true it would be bad, but as a rumor, he and the rest of his family find it funny.

The heart-throb also mentioned to GQ how he handles fame and sets up boundaries to keep his sanity intact.

"I mean, the speculation has been kind of mad for the last x amount of years," Mescal said. "I’m not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life."

While trying to keep his personal life private, Mescal's previous relationships have been very public. In the past, Mescal dated recording artist Phoebe Bridgers, who he met during an Instagram live. Currently, he is dating singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams . The couple are often photographed out and about in New York.
