Menendez brothers family plan rally outside LA DA’s office as Eric and Lyle face new evidence after Netflix's Monsters

The Menendez brother’s loved ones are expected to rally outside a Los Angeles courthouse to call upon the District Attorney to reconsider the brothers' sentencing and possible release.

Erik and Lyle Menendez were found guilty of murdering their parents in the 1990’s, and new evidence in the case as well as the new Netflix series Monsters has put the case back in the spotlight.

Los Angeles County District Attorney, George Gascón, said that the DA’s office is reviewing the case again.

Reportedly, around 25 family members are expected to hold a news conference outside the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The family members are set to be joined by the brother's defense lawyer, Mark Geragos, and Rosie O’Donnell, who has advocated for the release of Erik and Lyle.

Gascón is not expected to be at the rally according to a statement from his office.

"A decision regarding the Menendez case has not been made. Once DA Gascón has made a decision, the family members of the victims and the public will be notified," the statement said.

The Menendez brothers told NBC Los Angeles that they are “cautiously optimistic” about the DA’s review.

After two trials, the boys were sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The new evidence in the case includes the petition the brothers filed last year alleging their father molested them. As the allegations are under review and no information has been confirmed, a hearing is set for Nov.26.
