Liam Payne once voiced his remorse concerning a perilous photo atop a balcony edge, slamming his own conduct as "irresponsible".

Such repentant words have surfaced anew in light of the harrowing news that he tragically passed away after plummeting from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, confirmed by police.

Struggling after his departure from One Direction, the 31 year old artist took down the worrying image originally posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Back then, when he was only 20, he had expressed via tweet: "You may have seen a photo of me today taken on top of a building. I regret being there and having a photo taken."

"It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry, and do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this, as it is extremely dangerous.", reports the Express US .

The chilling resonance of these previous comments follows a police intervention with an allegedly inebriated and aggressive individual at a hotel in the swanky district of Palermo in Buenos Aires.

Heartbreakingly, medical teams later verified the demise of the vocalist discovered within the hotel's inner patio.

In the time leading up to this sorrowful incident, Payne had attended a concert by former fellow One Direction member Niall Horan in the metropolis and has been open about his struggles with dependency and his period in a treatment centre.

On Wednesday morning (October 16), it's been reported that Payne was buzzing on Snapchat about his escapades in Argentina, from saddling up for horseback riding to swinging mallets in polo, and he's chuffed about the prospect of reuniting with his pooch back at home.

"It's a lovely day here in Argentina," he shared in the clip.

The singer, who shot to global fame as part of the erstwhile chart-topping boy band One Direction with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, first made waves on The X Factor.

In a candid YouTube video released in 2023, Payne opened up about hitting the six-month mark of sobriety after spending close to 100 days in a Louisiana rehab centre.

Now 29, Payne has admitted that he's got "more of a grip on life" following a period of self-reflection when he realised he had become "somebody who I didn't really recognize anymore."

One Direction went on a break in 2015.

Following the group's split, Payne dropped his first solo album "LP1" in 2019 and this March, he introduced fans to his latest work, an LP titled "Teardrops."

Payne is dad to his son Bear, born in 2017, with ex-Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole.
