Apple's logo has a hidden biblical message that you may have missed

Apple's logo, one of the most recognizable symbols worldwide, is lauded for its simplicity and the intriguing theories about its meaning , particularly the bite mark.

Richard Lau, president of LOGO.com, a leading figure in logo design and marketing strategy, highlighted the significance of a distinctive company logo in attracting customers and fans.

He remarked: "Businesses cannot overlook the value a great logo holds; they are the connection between a company and potential customers, and what customers will remember most."

Apple, a global giant in technology, is renowned for creating, producing, and selling consumer electronics, software, and services, garnering a legion of loyal consumers who use its products daily. The high demand for Apple products ensures constant advertising; millions possess an iPhone or use Macbooks in cafes, all adorned with the iconic bitten apple logo.

Experts at LOGO.com have speculated that the bite out of the apple might not only be a playful hint to the company's name but could also reference the biblical tale of Adam and Eve, symbolising the lure of knowledge and discovery. Some Apple enthusiasts think the emblem pays homage to the falling fruit that inspired Sir Isaac Newton's revelation of gravity and motion laws, reports the Mirror .

Mr Lau commented: "There's an urban legend that the bite also represents a 'byte', as in digital information, but this has been dispelled by the logo's designer. However, the fact this logo has been so heavily discussed is the sign of a great logo. It's simple in design yet complex in meaning, reflecting the innovative and daring nature of Apple's products."

Rob Janoff, the brain behind Apple's captivating logo back in early 1977, chatted with CreativeBits and shed light on his creation while addressing the multitude of rumors about its genesis. He called the theories linking it to Sir Isaac Newton or biblical stories "a wonderful urban legend" and mentioned that Steve Jobs didn't really give him instructions for the logo, just one clear mandate: "Don't make it cute."

Originally, the logo sported coloured stripes, drawing inspiration not only from the era's prevalent hippie culture but also because the Apple II was the first consumer computer to display colour on a monitor – thus the stripes symbolised colour bars on the screen.

Furthermore, the vivid colours sought to appeal to users of all ages, youngsters in particular, reflecting Steve Job's ambition to introduce the computers into educational institutions.

Designer Rob Janoff has busted the myths circulating about the reason for the bite in the iconic Apple logo, stating with clarity: "When I explain the real reason why I did the bite it's kind of a let down. But I'll tell you. I designed it with a bite for scale, so people get that it was an apple not a cherry."

Diving further into the emblematic mark, he suggested there's something universally relatable about biting into an apple and shared his surprise upon discovering its serendipitous tie-in with technology: "It was after I designed it that my creative director told me: 'Well you know, there is a computer term called byte'. And I was like: 'You're kidding! ' So, it was like perfect, but it was coincidental that it was also a computer term. At the time I had to be told everything about basic computer terms."

The logo continues to gain admiration on social media platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter. Fans have expressed their high regard, noting: "One of the most recognisable logos around the world", alongside other praises such as: "So cool."

and "It's incredible to think that the Apple logo has been largely unchanged for nearly 50 years! ".

Jon Erlichman, a sage in investing, didn't pass up the chance to educate his readers on the design history: "The Apple logo was created in 1977. The apple bite was done for scale so people wouldn't think it's a cherry."
