Local authorities have verified that Liam Payne "jumped from the balcony" of his hotel room in Argentina, leading to his tragic demise, as per reports.

The police confirmed to The Associated Press that he "had jumped from the balcony of his room", ruling out any possibility of him falling or being pushed off. The 31-year-old singer met his untimely end during a trip to Buenos Aires with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, where they were attending a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan .

A preliminary autopsy report suggests that the ex-One Direction member died due to "multiple traumas" which resulted in both "internal and external bleeding" following a 40-foot fall. In the same statement to AP, local authorities mentioned that they were alerted to the hotel following an emergency call received just after 5 p.m. local time about an "aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," reports the Mirror US .

Before Liam's devastating death, the head of reception at Hotel Casa Sur made two urgent calls to 911. In the first desperate call, the employee stated: "We have a guest who's off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come."

After the line went dead, the same employee, who later identified Esteban, called back and urged: "I don't know if the guest's life is in danger," and added: "The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something. Just send an ambulance, only an ambulance."

Despite the hotel staff's best efforts to intervene, police were unable to reach the scene in time to save Liam's life. The investigation into the singer's death continues, with forthcoming toxicology and anatomical-pathological assessments of his blood and urine tests set to examine potential drug use.

There are also plans to review Liam's medical records for insights into his mental health.

Alberto Crescenti, the head of Buenos Aires emergency services, confirmed that Liam's death was instantaneous due to multiple injuries sustained, including a skull fracture. Crescenti explained: "Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life. Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."
