The sudden passing of Liam Payne on Wednesday night at a boutique hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has left fans, family members, and musicians worldwide in shock and deep sorrow. His former One Direction bandmates expressed their profound grief over his loss, stating collectively: "We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."

Argentinian police are persisting with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Liam's death after he fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in an affluent area of the country's capital city. Late on Wednesday night, following the tragic news of Liam's death, officers reportedly entered the hotel suite where he had been staying and confiscated several items.

A post-mortem was conducted just hours after his death at the morgue of the Supreme Court of Justice in Buenos Aires, where it was determined that his cause of death was "multiple injuries and internal and external hemorrhaging as a result of the fall."

However, with authorities treating the case as a "doubtful death," Argentinian reports are suggesting that some individuals could face two specific criminal charges if they were implicated in the tragic events of Wednesday night.

Prosecutors have confirmed that they have questioned five people in relation to Liam's death, including three hotel employees and two women believed to have been in his room in the hours preceding in an attempt to piece together a "reconstruction of his last hours," reports the Mirror .

Prosecutors stated that these women had "already left the hotel when the incident occurred." "Several substances" were taken from Liam's hotel room, along with whiskey bottles, his mobile phone, laptop, and fingerprints from the scene, as police probe who was present in the room and the origin of the alleged drugs.

It remains a mystery how any supposed drugs entered the 31-year-old singer's suite. The coroner determined that the singer had no "defensive type" injuries and that all 25 injuries identified were due to the fall from the balcony, which was about 14 meters high. This indicates "the intervention of third parties would be ruled out," at the time of the fall.

Nonetheless, authorities are considering two charges related to the sad events of Wednesday night, focusing on the "supply of narcotics and facilitating a place for their consumption," as possible offences.

The British Embassy in Argentina has acknowledged its involvement following Liam's passing.

They said: "We are supporting the family of Liam Payne, who died in Argentina, and we are in contact with local authorities."
