The epic saga of Outlander is drawing to a close, with the series set to conclude after an eighth season following the seventh, which will deliver eight more episodes later this year.

The Starz hit has captivated audiences with the tale of Jamie Fraser , the Highland warrior portrayed by Sam Heughan, and his romance with 1940s time traveller Claire Randall, played by Caitriona Balfe.

After seven seasons, Heughan and the cast have recently completed filming for the final season , expected to air next year. In a recent chat, the Scottish actor shared that he's returning for "pickups" next week and expressed how significant the show has been in his life for over 10 years.

"It's been a huge part of my life," he admitted, pondering his future post-Outlander. He even humorously suggested joining the team on the Today show, saying: "If you guys have got a spare seat..."

This led to a playful response from host Craig, who said: "There are a couple of openings here!"

Fans have been devouring the latest interviews with the Outlander stars, with one YouTube user praising: "Love to see Sam Heughan in these interviews!"

They added, "Such a great actor, entrepreneur and always a gentleman. Can't wait to see more of his work in the future. Thank you for having him on your show! "

Another fan lamented the show's impending end: "Best show ever, we don't want it to end! And we fans can't wait to see what comes next for this amazing man and the rest of the cast. Btw, Sam didn't mention his Sassenach gin, it's delicious too."

While known for his role as Jamie, Sam Heughan has also been making waves in the drinks industry with his Sassenach Spirits brand, offering whisky and gin inspired by his Outlander character's pet name for Claire.

Though currently, there are no new acting roles on the horizon for him as he's been busy with back-to-back filming for Outlander seasons seven and eight, reports the Daily Record .

But he's seen success with his role as Danny in 'The Couple Next Door', aired on Channel 4 and Starz, sparking rumours of a possible second season.

In addition, his adventures with fellow star Graham McTavish in 'Men In Kilts' have been well-received, featuring two seasons that cover their exploration of Scottish heritage and trek through New Zealand to discover its Scottish connections.
