Novak Djokovic has chosen a modest penthouse in Belgrade as his retirement home rather than splurging on a multi-million-pound mega-mansion.

At 37, he continues to demonstrate his prowess on the court. Despite not securing a title at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon or the US Open in 2024, Djokovic clinched his first career Golden Slam at the Paris Olympics, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final match of the Games.

Coupled with his 24 career grand slams, it's no wonder many fans regard Djokovic as the greatest tennis player of all time. With an impressive career on the courts and profitable sponsorship and endorsement deals with brands such as Lacoste, Waterdrop, Head and Asics over the years, the tennis star reportedly has a net worth of approximately £28.5million ($37.2M).

Despite having the option to live anywhere in the world when he eventually retires from the sport, Djokovic has chosen to settle in a modest penthouse in Belgrade. So, what does his retirement home look like, what features does it have, and how much did it cost?

A breath-taking penthouse with views of Lake Pavlova

Thanks to his successful tennis career, Djokovic has acquired several properties across the globe. His first purchase was a charming Monte Carlo residence for an undisclosed sum shortly after turning professional in 2003.

While details about the property remain scarce, it is reportedly situated on a hill with views of the Mediterranean Sea. In addition, the player bought two properties in New York City's SoHo district in 2017 for a reported sum exceeding $10 million (£7.6m), a $5.77 million (£4.4m) penthouse in Miami, and a Moroccan-style property in Marbella worth $10million (£7.6m) in 2020.

However, his retirement home is a modest penthouse apartment overlooking the beautiful Lake Pavlova. Djokovic secured the apartment for a mere $675,000 (£518k) in 2018, although it is believed that the pro has invested in modernising the three-bedroom pad in his homeland.

The property also features three bathrooms and an en-suite, as well as a spacious living area, and comes complete with a stunning terrace and a swimming pool. Nearby, the tennis star also has the renowned Restaurant Novak, which was established by his parents.

Filled with memorabilia from his illustrious career, including photos, tennis balls and even trophies, the chic restaurant pays tribute to some of Djokovic's most remarkable achievements. The Novak Tennis Center, established in 2009, boasts 14 courts and invites both local enthusiasts and visiting players to enjoy.

And Djokovic himself holds Belgrade close to his heart, having been warmly embraced by legions of supporters during celebrations held to honour his triumph at this year's Olympic Games. Addressing the throngs from City Hall with his fellow athletes, Djokovic shared: "I have had the honour and pleasure of being on this special balcony several times in my career, but each time you surprise and inspire me more and more. This is the most beautiful feeling that an athlete from Serbia can experience."
