Ascend Federal Credit Union Wins Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award
Ascend Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in Middle Tennessee, has won the 2023 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award from the Tennessee Credit Union League (TCUL). The awards committee selected Ascend from applicants across Tennessee as part of the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Award Program. Ascend was presented with the award at TCUL’s annual conference held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center from April 16-18, 2024.

Monterey Takes Over 4th Celebration Friday
Monterey will extend the 4th of July weekend with a Friday full full of music, activities, and fireworks. Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary said the city’s Independence Day event will feature food vendors, plenty of crafts, contests, and bounce houses. Cleary said the main goal of the event is to bring the Monterey community through the celebration of such an important day.

AAA: TN gas prices rise 10 cents
Tennessee gas prices reversed course last week and rose 10 cents, on average. The Tennessee gas price average is now $3.10 which is the same as one month ago and two cents more than one year ago. The average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline in Cocke County also also rose sharply last week according to AAA, going from $2.98 per gallon to a current average of $3.06 per gallon.
