ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A formal reading of the Declaration of Independence kickstarted Fourth of July festivities in the Town of Irondequoit Wednesday morning.

The two-day Fourth of July Festival at Irondequoit Town Hall runs through Thursday and includes local food vendors, a craft fair and live music.

    Wednesday’s lineup of artists:

    • Downtown Men from 12 to 3 p.m.
    • Jumbo Shrimp from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
    • B.B. Dang from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

    Thursday’s lineup of artists:

    • Yacht Club from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
    • Monica Hall Band from 4 to 6 p.m.
    • Uptown Groove from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
    • GAZEBO: Irondequoit Concert Band from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

On Thursday, the festival will also feature a 2-mile race starting at 8 a.m. followed by the start of a 10K race 15 minutes later. Anyone interested in registering can do so here.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Independence Day. It begins at the Irondequoit High School and ends at the Town Hall Campus. Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andrae Evans said the town is expecting 20 to 25 thousand people to come out for this.

Folks can also take part in various competitions, including the National Anthem Singing competition, a watermelon eating contest, and the Irondequoit Cornhole Tournament.

The festival will end with a fireworks show 9:30 Thursday night. That takes place over Town Hall, and for the first time this year, music will accompany them.
