    OSHP release name of fatal crash victim

    The Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has released the name of the man hit and killed on U.S. 52 near Ironton around 11:15 p.m. on July 3 as Tamia S. Prater, 24, of Ironton.

    According to a OSHP spokesman, the accident occurred in the eastbound lane of U.S. 52 eastbound at mile marker 7, near the State Route 93 exit.

    A 2005 GMC Envoy driven by Clarence Felty was traveling eastbound on U.S. 52 when it struck Prater who was walking in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 52.

    Prater was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.

    The spokesman said that there were rainy conditions at the time of the crash. Impairment is not believed to be a factor for the operator of the GMC Envoy.

    This crash is still under investigation.

    The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ironton Fire Department, and the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.
