Locals react to JD Vance as Trump’s running mate pick

IRONTON, OH (WOWK) – Opinions of Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick are swirling around, especially in Senator J.D. Vance’s home state of Ohio.

Some Ironton residents shared how they feel about the Buckeye State native as the running mate for the former president.

“I’m all for it. I’m for it. He cares about the American people, and he has a good running mate,” said Wes Wilson of Ironton.

“I think it’s great. I think he’s going to do something for this country that needs to be done,” said Ray Wilson of Ironton.

Vance was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio. He rose to fame with the 2016 publication of his memoir “ Hillbilly Elegy ” about the Appalachian values he was raised in and the hard times that came with his working-class hometown.
