With the mercury pushing boundaries, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Philadelphia has issued an "Excessive Heat Warning," alerting locals of the potential risk posed by sweltering conditions expected to surge throughout the day. According to the warning, the mix of humidity and high temperatures could lead to heat index values rocketing up to a stifling 105 degrees.
Altoona Woman Charged With Leaving Child in Vehicle
An Altoona woman is facing felony charges after leaving a 4-month old in a vehicle while grocery shopping. 40 year old Jade Diggs was charged after police were called to a home located along Oak Avenue in Altoona. Authorities had been informed that there was an infant that had been left in the vehicle while Diggs had gone shopping earlier. The temperature outside the car was 90 degrees at the time. Reportedly, the infant was taken to UPMC Altoona after showing signs of lethargy, as well as heavy and rapid breathing. Diggs reportedly told authorities she left the child in the vehicle because he had fallen asleep. Diggs is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault of a victim less than 13, a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child, and numerous other related counts. She is currently in the Blair County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 24th.
PSP: Curwensville man ID'd as victim of fatal ATV crash in Penn Township
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a Curwensville man has been identified as the victim of a fatal ATV crash last week in Penn Township. Officials say 58-year-old Danny Seaburn was killed last Wednesday evening after he reportedly crashed near the intersection of Curwensville-Grampian Highway and Legion Hill Road.
