Extreme heat is making schools hotter — and learning harder
Angela Girol has been teaching fourth grade in Pittsburgh for over two decades. Over the years she’s noticed a change at her school: It’s getting hotter. Some days temperatures reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit in her classroom which, like many on the East Coast, isn’t air-conditioned. Pittsburgh's Sheraden Neighborhood Startled by Overnight Shooting, Police Seek Assailant After Man Grazed by Bullet
In an incident shaking the relative calm of Sheraden's early hours, police raced to the intersection of Narcissus Ave. and Bergman St. following a ShotSpotter alert for multiple rounds fired. The gunfire, occurring just before 1:25 a.m., resulted in a man being wounded while walking his dog. According to the Public Safety blotter, the victim, an adult male, sustained a graze wound near his right eye when an individual, stepping out of a vehicle, opened fire and subsequently fled.
