Calling all rockhounds! 48th Annual Gem and Mineral Show coming back to Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WJMN) – The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will be hosting its 48th Annual Gem and Mineral Show on Saturday, August 3 at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge. This is the largest one-day gem and mineral show in the Midwest.

“We have approximately 50 vendors coming this year, bringing in specimens of rocks and minerals from all over the world, focusing mostly on the Great Lakes region. We have, besides just bringing in specimens, we also have vendors that have jewelry made out of gemstones, little, little gift items. We have one gentleman who specializes in making clocks out of local stones,” said President Kirsten Maki.

The 48th Annual Gem and Mineral Show is from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with hourly door prizes on Saturday, August 3. It is a free event. A guest speaker and a live auction of unique rock and mineral specimens will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Associated with the show is a series of field trips. The Republic Mine is on Friday, August 2 and Lindberg Quarry on Sunday, August 4. For more information, please visit ishpemingrocks.org .
