    Severe Thunderstorms Threaten Central Plains & Lower Missouri Valley; Including Tornadoes.

    Residents in the central Plains and lower Missouri Valley are urged to stay weather-aware today and tonight as meteorologists have issued an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms. The forecast warns of the potential for large to very large hail, severe thunderstorm gusts, and even a few tornadoes.

    The affected areas include Kansas City, MO; Overland Park, KS; Kansas City, KS; Topeka, KS; and Olathe, KS. With an enhanced risk level, over 2.7 million people are advised to monitor weather updates closely and be prepared to take action if necessary.

    Highest Area for the Tornado Threat:

    Additionally, isolated severe storms may develop late this afternoon across parts of the southern Plains. Cities within the slight risk area, such as Columbia, MO; Salina, KS; Emporia, KS; Hays, KS; and Sedalia, MO, are encouraged to remain vigilant as well, as nearly 1 million people reside in this region.

    Even areas categorized under marginal risk, including Oklahoma City, OK; Omaha, NE; Tulsa, OK; Wichita, KS; and St. Louis, MO, with over 12.6 million people potentially affected, should stay informed about changing weather conditions.
