Man Sentenced to 3 Years for Threatening Presidents Biden and Trump

HARRISBURG, PA – In a notable case underscoring the severity of threats against public officials, Mohamed Farah, a 34-year-old resident of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison. Farah was convicted of issuing threats against both the current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and includes an additional three-year term of supervised release following Farah's imprisonment.

United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam provided details of the case, noting that Farah had admitted to threatening to assassinate President Biden and also threatened the life of former President Trump, contingent upon his decision to run for reelection. These threats were made in January 2022, setting off a federal investigation into Farah's actions.

Farah, originally from Somalia, now faces the possibility of deportation after his prison term, highlighting the gravity of threats made against elected leaders in the United States.

The investigation leading to Farah's arrest and conviction was a collaborative effort involving the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Lower Allen Township Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carlo D. Marchioli led the prosecution, ensuring that Farah would face justice for his crimes.
