    Barricade Standoff in The Villages Ends Peacefully

    The Villages, FL – A tense situation in The Villages came to a peaceful resolution on Saturday morning, as members of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) successfully arrested a man following an extended standoff. James Savage, 54 year old white male born on June 2, 1969, was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m. at a residence on SE 174th Belhaven Loop.

    The operation involved the skilled efforts of both the MCSO's SWAT and Negotiations Units. After hours of careful negotiation, Savage surrendered to the authorities without incident. He was wanted on charges of Domestic Battery and Kidnapping in connection with a case under the jurisdiction of the Wildwood Police Department.

    In addition to the warrant for his arrest, Savage faces further charges in Marion County that were accumulated throughout the duration of the standoff. Details of these additional charges have not been disclosed but are expected to be released soon.

    Savage was transported to the Marion County Jail where he is currently being held. The peaceful resolution of this situation was praised by local law enforcement, highlighting the effectiveness of their training and dedication to ensuring the safety of the community.
