Kissimmee, FL. - Florida Highway Patrol reported a tragic collision on N John Young Parkway in Osceola County early this morning which has resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man from Kissimmee, while causing traffic disruptions and minor injuries to another driver. The incident occurred at approximately 6:29 AM near the intersection with Ball Park Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), three vehicles were involved in the crash. A 2016 Hyundai Veloster (V1), driven by the 25-year-old male, was traveling northbound in the inside lane when it failed to slow down for a 2024 Mazda CX-30 (V2), also heading northbound and driven by a 17-year-old female from Kissimmee, who was braking for traffic ahead. Upon colliding with the Mazda, the Hyundai swerved into the southbound lanes, directly into the path of an oncoming 2020 Ford F-250 (V3) pickup truck, driven by a 62-year-old man from Orlando.

The collision was severe. The Hyundai driver was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The young driver of the Mazda was unharmed and remained at the scene. The pickup truck's driver suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Osceola Regional Hospital.

Authorities reported that the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the fatal outcome. Both other drivers were using their seatbelts.

As of now, all southbound lanes and the inside northbound lane of N John Young Parkway remain closed as investigators work at the scene. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays in the area.

This crash is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP has not yet notified the next of kin of the deceased, and further details will be released as they become available. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of attentive driving and seatbelt use.

This information was provided to ISC News & Media from Lieutenant Crescenzi from the Florida Highway Patrol.
