    Pokemon Card Theft at Lakeland Dollar General Sparks Investigation

    Polk County, FL. - Accordint to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, they are actively investigating a case of retail theft involving the theft of $290 worth of Pokemon cards at the Dollar General store located on 1085 West Pipkin Road in Lakeland. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2024, around 11:15 a.m.

    Store employees discovered 65 empty packages of the stolen cards in the store's bathroom trash can during a routine check later that day. Video surveillance footage revealed a suspect, described as a white or Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a black T-shirt, grey jeans, and a black ballcap with a white logo. The suspect was seen stuffing the cards into his backpack before entering the restroom.

    Authorities urge anyone with information on the suspect or the theft to contact Detective Grant at 863-577-1600 or DGrant@polksheriff.org. Additionally, individuals can provide anonymous tips and be eligible for a reward by contacting Heartland Crime Stoppers.
