Fatal Pedestrian Collision on US-27 Leaves One Dead

Davenport, FL – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a tragic accident occurred on US-27 on Friday evening, resulting in the death of a 41-year-old Davenport man. The incident happened at approximately 8:43 PM at the intersection of Sanders Road.

According to authorities, a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 47-year-old man from Winter Haven, was traveling southbound on US-27. The vehicle continued through the intersection under a green traffic signal when it struck the pedestrian, who was improperly walking across the highway in a crosswalk.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the pedestrian had already suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. Authorities are reminding pedestrians to use caution and follow traffic signals to avoid similar tragedies.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of the family. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
