    Polk County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Shooting in Lakeland, Shooter Arrested

    Lakeland, FL — According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), a Lakeland man was shot and killed at his residence on Fleming Avenue Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024, in what appears to be a deadly neighborhood dispute.

    According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, identified as 32-year-old Alfredo “Freddie” Alfaro-Astello, was found deceased in his front yard after deputies responded to the scene at around 10:07 AM following reports of gunshots. Alfaro-Astello had been shot multiple times.

    Deputies were able to quickly locate the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Clinton “CJ” Robinson, Jr., who was arrested and is now in custody.

    Witnesses at the scene reported seeing Robinson approach Alfaro-Astello before hearing multiple gunshots and seeing smoke from the firearm. Witnesses also recounted hearing Robinson say, “How do you like me now?” as he walked away from the scene. Investigators have confirmed that the two men were neighbors and had been involved in previous arguments.

    “Detectives are still trying to determine what specifically led to this morning’s deadly interaction, and believe there may be more witnesses.     Robinson is currently facing multiple charges, including 1st Degree Murder (FC-no bond), Tampering with Evidence (F3-no bond), False Report to Law Enforcement in a Capital Offense Investigation (F3-no bond), Possession of Fentanyl (F3-$5,000 bond), Possession of Marijuana (M1-$1,000 bond), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M1-$1,000 bond). He remains in the Polk County Jail.

    The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to piece together the circumstances leading to the fatal confrontation.
