FHP: Fatal Crash in Polk County Claims Life of Haines City Woman

Polk County, FL – A late-night collision in Polk County has taken the life of a 29-year-old Haines City woman. The accident happened just after 10:30 p.m. on October 11, when her Ford Fiesta collided with a tractor trailer at the intersection of Bannon Island Road and Detour Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving eastbound on Bannon Island Road when she reportedly missed a stop sign, leading her vehicle to collide with the trailer of a southbound tractor trailer driven by a 35-year-old man from Darby, Pennsylvania. Sadly, the woman’s injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate what may have led up to the crash. For now, family and friends are left to mourn a life cut short on what was an ordinary Friday night. The woman’s identity is being withheld until her family has been notified.
