Pasco County, FL – An early morning crash in Pasco County has tragically claimed the life of an 88-year-old woman from New Port Richey after the car she was riding in veered off the road and into a pond. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on October 12, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Officials report that the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla driven by an 82-year-old man from Bushnell, was traveling southbound on Black Fox Drive. As the driver attempted to make a turn onto Sawgrass Boulevard, the car left the roadway, entering a nearby pond where it quickly became submerged. While the driver sustained only minor injuries, his passenger suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident and whether factors such as road conditions or visibility contributed to the tragic outcome. Names of those involved have not been released pending family notification.
