MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH - The other day, I got a craving for Aladdin’s when a friend mentioned going there with her grandparents. Hungry for their hummus, I went to my local Aladdin's not long after that (literally the day after my friend brought up the restaurant).

In case you don't know, Aladdin's is a local restaurant chain known for their Mediterranean fare. They actually got their start in Lakewood before expanding to locations all over Greater Cleveland including a restaurant in Middleburg Heights in Middleburg Towne Square at 18334 Bagley Rd, which was where I went.

For lunch, I shared a small plate of baba ganoush ($5.25) and got a hummus shawarma plate ($15.95) for my entree.

The baba ganoush was smooth and fresh, and had some pleasant tartness from the lemon juice. It was great with the complimentary pita bread, of which I consumed a lot. Our friendly server kept the refills of pita bread coming (and even better, refills of the bread were free!).

My hummus shawarma plate was also delicious. It came with a good amount of beef and an extremely generous amount of hummus. The beef was tender and seasoned nicely.

And the hummus? Delightfully creamy, fresh, and flavorful. Like the baba ganoush, it was wonderful with the pita bread.

The hummus shawarma plate was topped with diced tomatoes, parsley, and pine nuts, all of which were fresh and added some lightness and brightness to the dish.

At the end of my meal, I was beyond full, stuffed with hummus, beef, and so much pita bread.

In addition to excellent food, we received great service. It was on the slow side - I think the restaurant might have been short on staff that day - but our server was still attentive and came to check up on us a few times during our visit.

All in all, if you're looking for a Mediterranean option in Middleburg Heights, you can't go wrong with Aladdin's.

If you want to check out the restaurant for yourself, you can find it at 18334 Bagley Rd, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130.

The location is open 7 days a week, Monday to Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday to Saturday from 11 AM to 10:30 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 9:30 PM. Aladdin's also has locations in Lakewood, Strongsville, Westlake, and Independence.
