On Tuesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. Marathon High School will host a gathering to introduce Paul Anderson as the school’s new band director. Hemingway Look-Alikes give scholarships to CFK students
KEY WEST, FL, July 19, 2024— The “Papas” of the Hemingway Look-Alike Society (HLAS) kicked-off the festivities of the famous Hemingway Look-Alike Contest by presenting $31,500 in scholarships to students attending The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) on the stage of Sloppy Joe’s on July 18. HLAS Scholarship Chair and “Papa 2013” Stephen Terry announced a total of 13 CFK scholarships– four to students with literary talent, six to nursing students, one to a student training to become a first responder, one to a veteran, and one to a CFK-bound Key West High School graduate. This year, they increased awards from $1,500 for the fall semester to $2,500, split evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

While playing with several bands throughout his early years in music, most fans know Nicko McBrain as the drummer for the iconic heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Gaining a spot in the group in the 1980s, the musician appeared to find his home, playing with the band for decades. But that all changed in January 2023 when McBrain suffered a stroke at his home in Boca Raton. While regaining his health, the musician watched his life drastically change as his journey to recovery was a long road. Police: Toddler shot during kids’ party at Fort Lauderdale park
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A toddler was shot on Sunday afternoon during a children’s party in a public park in Fort Lauderdale.
