Pooch Party 2024 will raise money to support dog parks in Nampa
BOISE, Idaho — Nampa's premier dog festival returns! Join Nampa Parks & Recreation for the 16th Annual Pooch Party at Lakeview Park in Nampa on August 24th. Registration opens at 8:30 AM, followed by the walk at 9:30 AM. Gather your dogs and loved ones for a picturesque one-mile stroll around the park. Post-walk, the Lakeview Water Park gates will swing open for dogs to play in the pool. Enjoy contests, live entertainment, booths catering to pets, and a chance to win prizes.
Two ATV riders flown to hospital after being hit by van
HAZELTON — Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday eastbound on East 500 South Road near South 2400 East in Hazelton. A 32-year-old male of Hazelton was traveling eastbound in a 1994 Chevy G20 Van. A 28-year-old male was traveling eastbound on a 2017 Honda ATV with a 25-year-old female, as his passenger, both out of Hazelton.
Containment of Texas Fire Near Kendrick Jumps to 60%
KENDRICK - Crews continue to battle the Texas Fire, located east of Kendrick on the Latah/Nez Perce County line. According to a Monday morning update from officials, the fire's total footprint was estimated at 1,565 acres. New, recent mapping of the fire reduced the size estimate by 10 acres from the previous estimate.

Containment increased to 60% as firefighters made significant progress yesterday securing the fireline. Crews completed initial mop-up for most of the fire area, gridding 100 feet into the black from the fireline, to search for and extinguish lingering heat. Firefighters assigned to the eastern spot completed hose lays three-quarters of the way around the perimeter, with engines working in areas where hose cannot be laid. Yesterday, a snag fell down creating visible smoke from the interior of the eastern spot; crews quickly responded and cooled the area with water. While mop-up operations continue, interior smoke may still be visible from time to time.

Two men arrested outside of elementary school, one charged with trafficking methamphetamine
A surveillance of a residence suspected of selling drugs led to the arrest of two men on July 7, with 212 grams of methamphetamine being seized. Ryler Kenneth Jensen, 27, of St. Anthony, was charged with one felony count of drug trafficking in methamphetamine or amphetamine and a misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia. STANLEY, Idaho — On Saturday, the Bench Lake Fire continued to grow to 2,538 acres. The fire is now 13% contained, and 439 personnel are helping to fight it. According to Great Basin Team Four, strategic foresight and the correct complement of firefighting personnel bolstered containment efforts to 13%. The additional hotshot crews and aviation resources assigned to the Bench Lake Fire were critical in securing firelines.
