Amidst the MLB All-Star Weekend, another baseball league took part in All-Star activities of their own. The Long Island Stan Musial (LISM) Men’s Baseball League held its annual All-Star games on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, home of the Long Island Ducks.

Former Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg has once again been released from jail, according to New York City corrections records.Weisselberg was sentenced April 10 to five months in New York City's Rikers Island jail complex, in line with a plea agreement reached with prosecutors over perjury he committed in a 2023 civil fraud case. He was released Friday, after 100 days, due to good behavior. The case is one of many in Brooklyn of investors taking shares in properties though heirs transfers and then forcing partition sales. Ayisha Doyle, like her mother and her children, was raised in the grand brownstone on Jefferson Avenue in Bed Stuy. She still calls the house home, one of five generations of her family who have done so since her great-grandparents purchased the 1880s single-family house in the 1940s.
New York City mayor introduces new trash-bin designs to combat rat infestation
Mayor Eric Adams recently announced the newly approved trash-bin designs for the city’s impending plan to get all trash into containers and off streets. The mayor’s plan to put all garbage in bins has been ongoing. It officially began last fall, when food and chain businesses were required to place trash in containers, and continued this March, when all other businesses were required to begin putting trash in bins before placing it on the curb for pickup. The containerization process began after Mayor Adams declared a war against the growing number of rats in the city.

Last weekend, VFW Post 3350 hosted a yard sale to raise money for hospitalized veterans on Long Island. The post is looking for more veterans to join the organization.
