LYNN — The Lynn Cultural Council is seeking proposals from community organizations for grant funding. For Fiscal Year 2025, it has been allocated $103,600 to distribute to local projects.

The Lynn Cultural Council is part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s network of local cultural councils across the Commonwealth. The Massachusetts Cultural Council allocates funds to its 329 affiliates that account for all 351 municipalities throughout the Commonwealth.

The notice of funding availability states it may prioritize organizations that are able to collaborate with “multiple organizations and individuals from Lynn.”

It also states the Cultural Council will prioritize applicants which give a voice to Diversity Equity, inclusion and Accessibility populations.

“Communities of color, immigrant & refugee communities, gender minorities, LGBTQ+, disabled, low-income, and other historically marginalized groups are strongly encouraged to apply,” the notice reads.

According to the notice, priority may also be given to applicants that provide cultural opportunities for the youth and provide opportunities for education about the arts, humanities, and sciences.

Programs and projects must take place in Lynn and “preferred applicants,” must reside, work, or run a business or organization in the City.

The notice also states priority will be given to projects that demonstrate thorough planning and it strongly encourages applicants to provide any documentation of planning or partnerships.

For FY24 the council was able to fund more than 60 unique programs across the city.

Some examples of grantees for FY24 was the City’s Public Health Department for a Public Health Tabling Event, The Friends of the Lynn Public Library’s 2024 Summer Reading Program, 2024 Lynn Arts & Cultural Festival, and North Shore Juneteenth Association’s annual reading of Frederick Douglass.
