LYNN — Officials and community members gathered Friday morning for the official ribbon cutting of the new Lynn Woods Playground at the reservation’s Great Wood’s entrance.

The new Lynn Woods Playground opened on Sept. 20 with all new equipment, including a wheelchair accessible merry-go-round.

The new playground was made possible through a program that infused $19.5 million of American Rescue Plan Act funding to six of the City’s parks.

By spring 2025, Parks and Recreation will also celebrate upgrades to Keaney Park, Gallagher Park, Breed Park, Kiley Park, and McManus Park.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Mayor Jared Nicholson said it is important to make ADA accessible upgrades because it sends a message to everyone that there are places to gather and have fun in the city.

“What I think is so brilliant about this is that you have a beautiful place to play that’s next to one of the most incredible natural resources I think in the country,” Nicholson said. “You can come here and enjoy one another’s company on manmade fun, and then a nature’s playground here as well.”
